A couple of photos of Pink-eared Ducks from last weekend's duck rescue at Lake
Buloke, northwest Victoria.
Q: If they're shot for food, why are they abandoned? A: Because they're shot
for fun.

>From the same place and time, Black Swan eggs thrown out and swan's nest
>trampled to make a shooting platform. Two adults and three cygnets brought
>back to Melbourne.
One adult x-rayed contained 33 shotgun pellets:

Shooters on the wetlands are vicious and out of control. There are no wildlife
police this season. If duck rescuers didn't attend one or two wetlands every
weekend - and bring back the evidence, no one would know or believe what goes
on.
You'll recall the Black Swan that was killed by teenagers in a suburban park -
news that went around the world.A protected, non-game, Black Swan, riddled with
pellets on a remote wetlands in country Victoria may as well be invisible. The
mainstream media chose not to tell this story.
More to follow. [Could someone write if the Facebook links don't work? Thanks.]
