Rose Robin, Blue-winged Parrot Spring Plains Nature Conservation Reserve, Heathcote
A wayward and westward young male Rose Robin was seen along Campbell Track this morning uttering weak contact calls, and a Blue-winged Parrot was heard calling overhead, also over Campbell Track. First I've heard here. Sat 2 Apr Common Bronzewing, White-winged Chough, Grey Shrike-thrush etc Weeroona, Woodlands Historic Park
Fair number of birds still feeding on caterpillars in area. Noteable lack of robins. Most birds seen around dam. Only second Common Bronzewing I've seen at Woodlands, first in this area, flushed from track. 7 White-winged Choughs still present. Also heard Eastern Spinebill & Yellow-faced Honeyeater. Saw 2 uncoloured Golden Whistlers, 1 Rufous, 1 first immature Grey Shrike-thrush (accompanying photograph) & Crested Shriketits. 2 Tasmanian Grey Fantails (ssp albiscapa) also there.
Kevin Bartram

Beautiful Firetail, Rose Robin Bunyip State Park
A juvenile Beautiful Firetail was heard and seen along Camp Rd in thick scrub along Diamond Ck, feeding on seedheads of Pomaderris aspera. Also in the area were 2 Rose Robin singing strongly, and a pair of Gang-gang Cockatoo. Several Rufous Whistler are still about and also vocalising well, and a Bassian Thrush was flushed off the side of Link Rd in dry ridge forest. Oddly no Crescent Honeyeater, Eastern Spinebill or Superb Lyrebird seen or heard.

Peregrine Falcon Heidelberg
Bird had caught a Rock Dove and spent some time plucking the bird before eating it on a ledge of a building.

Fri 1 Apr PGP. Pacific Golden Plover Rocks on 13th Beach side of Black Rock
I am aware that some birders are looking for them at the rocks at the end of Black Rock Rd. To see them you need to approach from a track about 400 meters along 13th Beach Rd. They can be hard to spot because the ones in breeding plumage camouflage so well. They are indeed a beautiful bird. Hope this helps others find them.
Hedley Earl

Black-backed Magpie Allnutt Park, Bentleigh East
Black-backed bird found amongst common white-backed birds. First I have seen around here.

Dusky Woodswallows (including juvs) and Common Bronzewings also noted in same area. Spotted Quail-thrush (pair present, only female seen) in fire regrowth along Buckshot Track. Painted Button-quail (1) along Butchers Rd. A Buff-banded Rail ran across the road at Durdidwarrah South Reservoir. Eastern Spinebill Wilby
Unexpected, young male seen in flowering Eucalyptus macrandra at the back of the garden. On autumn dispersal I am assuming, but i usually would not expect this bird this far north or west. Quite far away from the usual habitat in the ranges or even Box-Ironbark forests.
