Birdline ACT

Published sightings for the week ending 3 Apr 2011.

Sat 2 Apr White-bellied Sea-Eagle Lake Burley Griffin (Orana Bay, Tarcoola Reach)
At 2.15 pm I was rowing off the eastern side of Black Mt Peninsula, looking back towards the Water Police Station to the south (perhaps 500-600 m. away). A large bird caught my eye and I grabbed my binoculars. A White-bellied Sea-Eagle flew in from the east low over the Station, stooped down to the water in Orana Bay, seized a fish and flew off over Yarralumla carrying its prey with a few gulls and perhaps other birds in mild pursuit.

Sun 27 Mar Swift Parrot Wybalena Grove, Cook
Two Swift Parrots circled briefly around over Wybalena Grove Cook, 1pm today. I suspect they may have been lurking quietly in the Red Box (E. polyanthemos) which is loaded with lerp at the moment, as I first heard them giving alarm calls as if they had been chased from their feeding trees, then they circled around once before heading off in a southerly direction.
