Baffles me why they split them in the first place. Sure there are some 
differences, but as an ecologist and an evolutionary biologist I will never 
understand why taxonomists think that a difference and a different species are 
the same thing

FYI

IOC has re-lumped Eastern Great Egret (modesta) with Western Great Egret 
(alba). Clements never split the two.
