Location: Port Clinton.
Grey-tailed Tattler (Heteroscelus brevipes) (8) 8 Grey-tailed Tattlers seen
feeding along the edges of the incoming tide.
A week earlier Peter Gower was there when we saw 5 feeding on the outgoing
tide.
My sightings have always been from the car parking area at the end of
Cumberland Rd. Port Clinton.

Date: Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Location: Hindmarsh Tiers
Crested Shrike-tit (Falcunculus frontatus) (2) At least 2 foraging in Pink Gums
near the Hindmarsh River.The birds were contact-calling as they moved through,
but I only managed to see one of them.This spot is on SA Water land, 300 metres
downstream of the Hindmarsh Falls.
27+ species recorded during a day of weed control in this area,including
Fan-tailed Cuckoo,a single Wedge-tailed Eagle,and several small groups of
Brown-Headed honeyeaters.

Location: Aquatic Centre, North Adelaide
Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis) (1) At the top of a dead branch in a tall
tree on the eastern edge of the oval immediately to the east of the Aquatic
Centre. Could perhaps have been a small Peregrine, but the head markings seemed
to match the Hobby's and it was quite small - about the size of a Nankeen
Kestrel. The light was not very good. A few noisy miners were hopping up the
branches toward it and then having second thoughts.

cliffs near the beacon.

Location: Goolwa: Beacon 19 to Murray Mouth
Rock Parrot (Neophema petrophila) (30+) At least 20 birds close to the Murray
Mouth in scrub between the dune and Goolwa Channel, along with a few Elegant
Parrots. Another smaller group in the scrub close to Beacon 19 car park.
Double-banded Plover (Charadrius bicinctus) (50+) A large active group with a
similar number of Red-necked Stints on the flat open area on the south side of
the Goolwa Channel at the Murray Mouth.
Gull-billed Tern (Gelochelidon nilotica) (1) At least one bird flying past the
beacon 19 boat ramp
