Fri 25 Feb Bourke's Parrot Alice Springs, Northern Territory
I found three birds about 800m along the old track that leads from the Alice Springs tip west through the Ilparpa crown land area.

Oriental Honey Buzzard Settlement , Christmas Island
An Oriental Honey Buzzard has been seen several times over the last few days at Settlement on Christmas Island.

Semi-palmated Plover Hopetoun, Western Australia
John Darnell has forwarded a photo of a bird that looks like this species in breeding plumage forwarded to him by Marcus Singor who received it from someone called John. It was seen in the Hopetoun area of WA at 10.00 on 18 Feb and at 09.00 on 19 February in the SE corner of Culham Inlet from Hamersley Drive, 027780E 6242373N.

Sun 20 Feb European Storm-Petrel, Great Shearwater, Little Shearwater and others BOCA Eaglehawk Neck pelagic, Tasmania
A pelagic trip off Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania produced some exciting results on Sunday. Best bird was a European Storm-Petrel. Pending BARC assessment this is the first record for Australia. The 6th or 7th Great Shearwater for Australia (and the first for Tasmania) was also seen and photographed. Other good birds included a single Little Shearwater, 2-3 Buller's Shearwaters, Soft-plumaged Petrel and Gould's Petrel.

Sat 19 Feb Long-tailed Finch (Poephila acuticauda) Townsville towncommon, Queensland
A bird well out of its normal range, seen and photographed 8.30 am 19/02/11 and again 5.30pm on the 20/02/11 just passed second viewpoint where water crosses road). Possible escapee or maybe displaced by cyclone Yasi.

Fri 11 Feb Malayan Night Heron, Cinnamon Bittern, Chinese Sparrowhawk Dolly Beach Rd and other sites, Christmas Island
During a short visit to Christmas Island 8-11 Feb the following rarities were seen: Malayan Night Heron - near Ross Hill Gardens on Dolly Beach Track, Cinnamon Bittern - at entrance to Casino, Yellow Bittern x2 at Casino and 1 at LB3, Chinese Sparrowhawk - Dump, Red Collared Dove - Dump, Watercock - 1 at entrance to Casino. Java Sparrow numbers seem to be in the decline with just 3-4 seen at the Parks Australia nursery.
