Birdline NT

Published sightings for the week ending 6 Feb 2011.

Sun 6 Feb Bridled Tern Alice Springs
Details to follow. The bird is at my house and is in bad shape.
Chris Watson

Sat 5 Feb Peach-faced Lovebird Cliffside Court, Alice Springs
3 birds calling and flying about for 20 minutes this morning. I also saw 2 birds last week near the Telegraph Station. They've obviously escaped and with the country as it is at the moment we could soon have another breeding feral population.
Chris Watson

Fri 4 Feb Little Kingfisher Fogg dam
7-8 Little Kingfishers On walking track, including a pair and nesting site. Very good photo opportunities.
Laurie Ross

Mon 31 Jan Black Swan Leaning Tree Lagoon, near Marrakai, NT
A lone swan was at the lagoon on Monday.
Mike Jarvis

Sun 30 Jan Tawny Grassbird Ilparpa Swamp
A population of Tawny Grassbirds has established itself at Ilparpa Swamp, immediately south of the sewerage ponds. I spotted at least 8 individuals and managed a few photos. No atlas record of these birds within 1000 km of Alice Springs.
Michael Green
