Dear birding-ausers,
I have a birding contact David Bakewell currently in Sydney [Beecroft].
He is interested particularly in Latham's Snipe. Any recent sightings around
Sydney would be appreciated, as sighting of migratory shorebirds have been very
few lately.
Other than that, any good sites for general shorebird watching would be helpful.
Is the Penrhyn Estuary still out-of-bound these days?
[One more thing about non-shorebird, any good site for Spotted Quail-thrush
close to Sydney?]
Please reply privately to Dave. Dave is able to organise for his own transport
himself if necessary.
Thanks.

PS:
David is a well known ornithologist based in Malaysia and he has contributed
tremendously in bird studies and birdwatching in the Southeast Asia region.
Some of his recent researches include discovering the Swinhoe Plover (aka
White-faced Plover, a distinctive split from Kentish Plover), rewriting the
identification/status/distribution of endemic Malaysian Whistling Thrush.
Besides this David has extensive field experience on few tricky shorebirds -
Swinhow/Pintail Snipe, Red-necked Stint/Little Stint (Non-breeding).
For more about his works on birding (lots of serious bird studies/surveys and
great bird photographs for the region), visit http://digdeep1962.blogspot.com/
