Hi Red Centre Fans,To follow from Chris's great suggestions I recommend looking for wild Stone Curlew along the riverside near the Park Service campsite near Palm Valley (Finke Gorge National Park). While you are there look out for the Chestnut-banded Rails which have recently moved in.Closer to Alice there is also a pair of wild Stone Curlew breeding this year in Alice Springs Desert Park's desert rivers habitat which have become quite habituated to humans and often allow great close views- ask the Desert Park Guide staff for advice on locating these lovely birds.
