Took a visiting US birder out around Brisbane on Saturday and managed an
impressive list of just shy of 150 bird species.  The day started with Sitella,
double-bars, 3 cuckoos, 8 honeyeaters, Little Shrike-Thrush and Owlet-nightjar
at his hole in my Samford Garden, White-headed Pigeon, Grey Goshawk and
White-eared Monarch in Dayboro; Square-tailed Kite, Hobby and good tern
variety/
numbers on Lake Samsonvale, Wandering Whistling Duck up at the Dam, Koala at
Beeville Scout Den; Plumed Whistling Duck and Brolga near Toorbul, Mangrove
Honey-eater, Mangrove Gery and good wader numbers at the Toorbul roost and
large
numbers of Musk Lorikeets around the Ferny Grove Train station.   The list
could
have been much larger if we hit a rainforest habitat, but he had just spent the
last few days at Lamington, so we did not bother.
Cheers,

Roger
