Hi all,

My recent post about having a Powerful Owl in my backyard elicited a
response I was totally unprepared for. Someone wrote to me privately to say
in nearby Kenmore Powerful Owls turn up semi-regularly, but there had also
been a pair of BARKING OWLS in Kenmore in 2004-05 for 6 months. Did anyone
else know about this? Was it ever reported? Does anyone know of any
Barking Owls near Brisbane currently? Everything I have read since
receiving the email suggests there are no populations of Barking Owls in
SEQ, and never have been. Any information to the contrary would be
appreciated. The closest place I know for the species is Goondiwindi.

Regards,
Chris

ps. what is the closest to Brisbane people have seen Barking Owls in the
past?
