Dear Birders,
Why not make a real birding weekend of 20 and 21 March 2010! The Hunter Bird
Observers Club has organised a stimulating symposium on the "Birds and the
Hunter" at the Hunter Valley Gramar school, Norfolk St, Ashtonfield (a
suburb of Maitland in the Hunter Valley) commencing at 10:00 am on Saturday
20th. The symposium will explore such topics as the results of bird atlasing
in the Hunter, where to find waders in the Hunter, conservation issues in
wetland habitats in the Hunter, results from the Cowra woodland birds
program and birds of the the Walka Reserve in Maitland. The symposium will
be followed by BASNA's AGM. In the evening a convivial dinner has been
organised for anyone wanting to join in.

On Sunday 21st HBOC members will be leading a birding outing to the Walka
Reserve. This was the site of Newcastles first drinking water supply and is
now well known for its Grebes, Crakes and Rails, and Ducks. It is also a
good site for woodland birds in the Hunter.

BASNA and HBOC would welcome member and visitor participation. We are
confident that a interesting and enjoyable weekend will be had by all who
attend. If you would like to come
call Pixie Maloney at the BASNA office (02) 9647 1033

Regards

Peter Marsh
Chair, BASNA
