I'm planning a birding trip to Australia in October/November this year, and
I wondered if the drought has let up at all in the places I am planning to
visit.
I'm interested in central NSW, the Riverina, and northern Victoria in
general, and the Macquarie Marshes, Lake Cargelligo, Terrick Terrick, and the
Hattah-Kulkyne/Wyperfeld areas in particular. Was 2009 any better than
other recent years, and how does it look so far for 2010? I'm trying to
decide
which areas to visit and how much time to allot to inland places. Are
some of the areas mentioned less affected by the long-standing drought than
others?
How about the Melbourne area? Any drought relief there? The You Yangs
were dry as tinder in spring of 2006; any better now?
