I am not a member of either organisation, and in fact as an octogenarian I'm
in winding down mode, but would like to offer two comments:

A couple of decades ago, I retired from a senior administrative position in
nature conservation in the Queensland public service. My gut feeling is
that politicians would be likely to take more notice of well-reasoned
submissions broadly proposing the same viewpoint from two independent and
respected organisations, than from a single one. (For "politicians", read
Ministers and Members of Parliament; and add public servants.)

How easy (or difficult) would it be to draw up and get accepted by all
concerned a Constitution and associated rules for the new organisation?

I have no idea. But whenever the question of Australia cutting ties with
the British Monarchy arises, I think of fiendish difficulty of drafting
amendments to the present Constitution that would be acceptable to all those
seeking such independence.

Syd
