There have been a few threads on this in the past - have you searched the
archives? Most people use a fairly high powered spotlight so I would think a
pocket torch would have very limited effect. One thing I try to do is to
avoid shining it straight at the bird so they are not in the full glare -
after all if someone shone a bright light directly in your eyes it would
affect your vision for a while and if you relied on your night vision to get
food - especially if you had young to feed - it might have some impact on
how much food you could get that night and thus how well your young survived
