Only swift record on a Christmas trip from Coutts Crossing to Sydney and return
was a sighting of 5+ White-throated Needletails over South Kempsey on 28
December 2009.

Have a happy and bird productive 2010 and as Michael Norris has indicated this
is the UN Year of Biodiversity so lets all make that extra effort to fight for
the survival of our birds (and other native species) this year. The 2009
Australasian Ornithological Conference highlighted the plight of many of our
birds and the trend was frightening. Most major bird groups (seabirds,
shorebirds, woodland birds etc.) are all declining rapidly. We need to turn
this trend around.
