Hi all,
This report just came in via Victorian Birdline (see below and
http://www.eremaea.com ), a Regent Honeyeater near Paynesville, Gippsland. It
would be interesting to see if there are any follow ups. Regent Honeyeaters
were historically quite commonly reported from Gippsland - with a band of
box-ironbark extending across south east Victoria - but I can find no recent
records.
Regent Honeyeater, 15/12/2009
Eagles Point, Rivermouth Road, near the silt jetties, Paynesville, Gippsland
Notes: The bird flew in front of the car and landed in a tree alongside the
road, in front of #190 Rivermouth Rd. It then crossed back and perched on the
fence of the property, dropping to the ground a couple of times to feed on
insects, etc. Amazing!
