Hi Jeff,

I was in Georgetown in August last year. I asked at the visitors centre for a bird list, which they had. The lady behind the counter said that there had been recent reports of Gouldian and Plum-headed Finches at Cumberland Dam. This is about 20 km west of town.

I did not see either when we went there the next day. A couple who had been camping there for a few days had seen the Plum headed, but not the Gouldians.

There was good birding anyhow. Most memorable was the sight of a mixed flock of several hundred Masked, Black-faced, White-breasted and White-browed Woodswallows hawking on a hatch of insects following an unseasonal rainfall a few days earlier.

Cheers

Roger.
