Can anyone comment on whether the new Slater is better bound, and hence more
robust, than recent copies of the old one? There are only two small-format
guides, so it is a shame the one which I think has the better content (Slater),
and certainly the more accurate illustrations, stands up so badly to use. My
birding companion has gone through two Slaters, both of which have fallen
apart, in the last few years, whereas my compact Morecombe is still in one
piece. Before I heard about the new edition, I was about to buy her a new copy
of the old Slater and get it professionally rebound before giving it to her as
a present - do I still need to?
