Dear Syd
I have one in my kitchen but it has English birds on it - a present from
my London-based bird watching son. The good thing is that when you hear
the bird, you know what time it is - you don't have to listen to the
number of "dongs". And it doesn't work in the dark.

Is nothing sacred? An unwanted mail-order catalogue in our letter-box today
includes an adv. for a "Bird Clock" - "Hear bird calls on the hour!"
Hours represented by paintings of Australian birds. Kookaburra top centre.
And "Bird sounds from 8AM to 7PM". First bird-call not until 8AM?
Disgraceful! (But at least they "can be turned off by removing battery")
 Syd
