Further to Chris Sanderson's posting of waders seen in the Manly/Wynnum area of
Brisbane this week, I thought it might be useful for anyone venturing out this
weekend if I pitched in with details of the waders and terns that I saw at the
Toorbul roost (about 60km north of Brisbane, QLD) on 25/8/09.

      Black-tailed Godwit 3
      Bar-tailed Godwit 480
      Whimbrel 86
      Eastern Curlew 410
      Common Greenshank 1
      Grey-tailed Tattler 190
      Great Knot 85
      Red Knot 7
      Sharp-tailed Sandpiper 10
      Curlew Sandpiper 2
      Pied Oystercatcher 18
      White-headed Stilt 104
      Red-capped Plover 5
      Masked Lapwing 9
      Gull-billed Tern 26
      Caspian Tern 36

So things are beginning to happen. I went to Caloundra later in the day but was
distracted from wader-watching by two female Great Frigatebirds that were
cruising over the northern tip of Bribie Island.

The Beach Stone-curlews that were attempting to nest on Bribie Island were
disturbed and left the area.

Cheers - Trevor.
