G'day all,
Just a brief note to say that there are at least 3 Swift Parrots at
Sheep Station Creek Conservation park near Burpengary (northern suburb
of Brisbane). The birds were along the Grey box Circuit. Park at the
Williamson Rd gate and walk in. When you reach the Y intersection of
Grey Box Circuit, follow around to the left. After passing the start of
the Ironbark Ridge Walking Trail on your right start counting the humps
in the track, at nine there should be a large Gum-topped Box beside a
run-off cutting on the left. There is a gnarl on this tree about a metre
from the ground. If you look over to the left in the tree canopies there
is some blossom. This is where the parrots were this morning.
Among a myriad of other birds and mammals I had great views of a pair of
Painted Button-quail, Crested Shrike-tits and Yellow-footed Antechinus.
Cheers
