Kevin (and others)
Yes the tyre should still be there - near the top of the spinifex
covered ridge (which is 31.5km from the airport roundabout)
It is a good spot for Dusky Grasswren, and also Rufous-crowned
Emu-wren (although both can be hard work).
I have not yet seen a Spinifexbird there in 12 visits.
I usually go to the next powerpole, and walk in along the south-side
of the ridge
Have had good luck with the GW on the south-side near the small gully
about 500m NE of the road.
Last time I saw a group of EW was also on the south-side of the ridge,
about 300m NE of the rd.
Another good spot for Dusky Grasswren is around the cliff-top edges of
the flat-topped hills 26.5km from the roundabout.
(which is also a good spot for Grey-fronted Honeyeater).
Cheers

Can anyone tell me whether the "tyre on the pole" on the Santa Teresa
Road is still present - if not any info on grasswren sites there would
be welcome, Kevin holwelll
