Ruth,
Can you tell us what has happened in more detail.

I lived opposite the Lake for a year or so and birded there everyday, with a 
number of my records being "firsts" for a lake.  Is there photos of the damage??

I am more than happy to get in contact with the council and the Lockyer paper, 
expressing my disgust!!!!
