You should find heaps of info doing a search of the archives Lynton.
Obvious things like Black-backed Butcherbird at Laura roadhouse, Cook's Hut in Iron Range for alot of the rainforest specialties. If you are really keen there is (used to be?) a fishing charter guy that runs out of Seisa who will take you to one of the islands for Pale White-eye.

I reckon dust masks would be a must for a cycling trip up there. It will be peak season so lots of 4wds thundering along throwing up heaps of dust.

Feel free to email if you have no luck in the archives although others will know better than i do.
Cheers
Dave

Hi, some friends and I are heading to Cape York from Cairns in 3 weeks time
and I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on whats about up
there. The itinerary is Cairns to the tip along the main road (ie Kuranda, Laura etc) via Iron Range. We'll be cycling so will be going slow enough to see a bit of the country but unable to venture too far off the main road. Any advice would be appreciated (other than dont do it on bicycles, thanks
for the concern but we do know what were doing).
