G'day Ian,

I'm just ticking all boxes with this question, you definitely ruled out
Wonga Pigeon, they are not uncommon in the area around Taggerty, and they
have an extremely monotonous call.

Cheers Jeff.

Hi Greg

Yes, White-headed Pigeon was a possibility that I considered being aware there have been recent records of them in Vic but the sound was not consistent with published descriptions and this was not a particularly robust call. There was no booming or variation to "Coo Coo" however I am not familiar with the call of the WHP so can't rule it out. The purpose of my message was really to alert others that at present, there is something worth searching for as they drive past Taggerty.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

Could it have been a White-headed Pigeon? The 'Coo Coo' call is consistent with the call of that species.
