Just in passing.
I grew up on a farm on Tamborine Mountain (in from the Gpld Coast) in the
1930s. The farm consisted of a citrus orchard and about 20 hectares of
original rainforest. Black Cockatoos sometimes visited our rainforest and
on hearing their voices, I would race down through the orchard to them.
On one occasion, while I was admiring them, one that was perched on a small
branch about as thick as my finger, bent down and snipped it off as simply
and neatly as I could have done with secateurs. I was most impressed.
70 years later, and with the benefit of Madvig-wisdom, I'd say definitely
occupational therapy.
Back then, as a child, I wasn't interested in what sort of Black Cockatoos
they were, but I guess Yellow-tailed.
