Interesting analysis of the extreme weather behind the vic. bushfires here:

And its still Dorothea Mackellar's country. There are flood warnings for
Culgoa, Bokhara and Narran rivers in NW NSW.  I don't know this area -
but maybe enough for significant waterbird breeding in Narran Lakes?

And floods in Lake Eyre's drainage too.  Water has reached Goyder's
Lagoon from SW Queensland and should reach Lake Eyre in 2-3 weeks.
News reports suggest it will fill Lake Eyre to less than a metre, the
highest for 5 years. Googling reveals there was over 2 metres in Lake
Eyre when Banded Stilts bred in big numbers in 2000.  So maybe there
needs to be more rain for a big breeding event?
