Hi Kaye, All,
Yes, I first noticed Adelaide Rosellas nibbling the apricot leaves
several
years ago, quickly followed by the Rainbow Lorikeets. Since then it has been
an annual event for the lorikeets to strip up to a third of the leaves from
the tree. Recently I noticed them starting this year, ignoring fruit that
was still green at that stage. The tree is now netted until the fruit is
picked.

Has anyone else had any Rainbow Lorikeets eating their apricot tree
LEAVES.....not the fruit but the leaves? What is in it for them, does
anyone know? Does ir harm the tree long-term? One friend says her apricot
tree died by being continually and totally stripped of leaves by these
otherwise charming but too-vocal birds.
Thanks for any info.
