Earlier this year my wife and I visited Byron Bay to attend the premiere of the documentary 'Sharkwater' with our children and grandchildren. The house that we rented was two storey and the glass doors on the ground level were screened by white curtains. I partly opened one of the curtains to let in some light and to have a view. Later my grandchildren told me about the dead bird on the lawn. It was a Wonga Pigeon that had found the narrow area of unscreened glass and had flown directly into the door. When I admitted that I was the culprit who open the curtain the grandchildren roused on me for 'killing' the beautiful bird.

They did forgive me.
