John,

While I agree that many cage escapees do not do well in the wild some must survive and breed as we do have a number of introduced species that were released from captivity now well established. Are all of the Goldfinches, Nutmeg Mannikins, Greenfinches etc. in the wild in Australia descended from wild caught birds or cage birds?
