Irrawong Reserve (IR), Warriewood Wetlands (WW), Warriewood, Sydney, NSW: 48
bird species this morning
Highlight: 1-2 Lewin's Rails at the boardwalk at IR (1 calling adult male, plus
"something else" skulking around nearby)
(in addition Raja had a brief glimpse of an unidentified rail at the boardwalk
at WW)
Other interesting observations:
Male Chestnut Teal in an odd eclipse plumage at WW
Female hybrid Pacific Black Duck x Mallard with 9 downy chicks at WW
lots of White-cheeked HEs at both sites
6+ Scarlet HEs at WW
(no White-headed Pigeons and Tawny Grassbirds seen/heard today)
Acknowledgement: Thanks to previous posters and especially to the nice dad with
his two boys who showed us the Lewin's Rail!
