(And I'm assuming you're talking about Yellow-rumped Thornbills).

I fully agree that correct nomenclature is important BUT at the same
time the use of alternative common names does enrich conversation and
surely there is nothing wrong with that. I love the term' butter-bum'
for instance. Perhaps as foreign to some as 'Murray-magpie' to me.
