Greetings,
A few days ago I saw a lump on top of a fence post which I knew was more or less flat. Turned out to be a male Brown Quail. It was not calling and flew to the ground when I approached but remained visible until I left. I have once seen a male calling from on top of a clod of dirt which is why I mentioned that it was not calling. Anyone had similar experiences?

Four brown coloured Golden Bowerbirds at Longlands Gap; one with a coloured eye.

One lone Aus. Pratincole on Forsayth Rd. Blue-winged Kookaburras and Red-backed Kingfishers could turn up on just about any wires on the Tablelands as they seem to be moving around a lot more this year than is normal. Usually they set up a territory while visiting us.

Regards,
Alan Gillanders
