Changing species (just a bit) I once saw a Northern Giant Petrel off Stewart Island, New Zealand, swiftly leave its nest where it had certanly one nestling, snatch a White-fronted Tern from a group that were circling just opposite its nest and themselves nesting in the adjacent cliff face, clip off the tern's head, catch the body before it fell, and return to its nest to dismember the remains. Wasn't interested at all in the head.
