I agree John ! This happens to me on a weekly (sometimes daily basis). i.e. not 
knowing where some reported sighting is. It normally only takes a minute or 2 
on google maps to find it. That said, I think a standard approach of: 
'location, nearest major town, state' approach is a very good idea. Sometimes 
when I check things out and they are in Victoria or WA and therefore are a bit 
too far from Brissie for me - it would have saved me a minute of two of my

birding aus community for not telling you that the Enoggera dam is in Brisbane 
Queensland. I tend to get a little excited sometimes as these birds were a very
