Here in the Blue Mountains (NSW), New Holland Honeyeaters certainly
breed at any time of year with peaks in spring and autumn.
I have a favourite memory of stalking a displaying Superb Lyrebird
one winter at Hassan's Walls near Lithgow, looking up into a nearby
shrub and noticing a New Holland Honeyeater nest with two nestlings.
Those nestlings would have had a front-row seat to the lyrebird's
performance each day. That was in July.
Cheers,
Carol

Further to my earlier note below I note that Simpson and Day (7th Ed
p324) shows them nesting nearly all year round. Oh well, it's still nice
to have them even if this timing isn't unusual.

I have a pair of New Holland Honeyeaters building a nest just outside my
computer room window in a pittosporum bush. Because of the glass they
don't seem to notice me watching them. Isn't this a bit early for them
to be nesting?
Tony.
