Hi all,

After the deluge of rain in the last few days (at least 200mm where I am in
Brisbane) I went down early today to check the local creek at Rainbow Forest
Park, Fig Tree Pocket. For those not familiar it is a small rainforest
revegetation patch next to the Centenary Highway where Cubberla Creek
crosses. There were a few surprises for June, with about 15 White-headed
Pigeons and 12 Topknot Pigeons in the area, plus at least 10 Rainbow
Bee-eaters roosting in the rainforest patch. The regular winter migrants
were about with Rufous and Grey Fantails, Rufous and Golden Whistlers and a
Rose Robin poking their heads out after the rain.

Not bad for half an hour in a suburban park.

Regards,
Chris
