Some years ago I had close views of a Dingo - or more precisely a wild Dog
that looked exactly like a Dingo - in the Grose catchment (Linden Creek)
at Faulconbridge. I had been sitting quietly for some time and it didn't
notice me until it was only a few metres away. I've also talked to keen
bushwalkers who've spent a great deal of time wandering the Blue mountains
without seeing a Dingo. I've assumed this might reflect low probability
of detection - i.e they are locally very shy - as much as scarcity.
Its easy to conflate the two, forexample Peregrine Falcons seem to be
a common Blue Mountains birds because they are frequently observed,
but its not obvious they are more numerous in the area than Dingos.
