Flying with protection

I have now checked HANZAB which lists small passerines and some non-passerines 
in the diet of the Australian Magpie.  Richard's (Australasian) Pipit and 
pardalote are both listed.  Some of these would be as carrion (roadkills etc.).

I am not totally convinced that all attacks by Magpies on pipits constitute 
foraging as I have witnessed this on dozens of occasions but have never 
observed a kill.
