David,

I am not surprised. We generally pay through the nose for optical gear in OZ. With the differential bween the Singapore and the Aussie dollar, you could just about defray the cost of your airfares to S'pore if you are buying up fairly big. And you bought your binos at what is probably the dearest place in S'pore, Changi. It would be interesting to compare the prices at Mustafa's, Challenger or the Funan Centre.

Cheers,

Carl Clifford

I had a shock yesterday. On my way back from Sulawesi I bought a pair of Bushnell 4 x 42 binoculars at Changi for S$269 (approx A $211). In Adelaide the same binoculars are priced at A$449!!
