I'm planning a trip to New Zealand in early February. 

I'll be starting my trip in Christchurch and travelling up to Auckland by 
car (and ferry). 

Can anyone recommmend some must visit spots for the endemics. Preferably 
on the mainlands, but if i must go to islands, ones that are relatively 
cheap to get to. 

My only plans so far are Kaikoura for the Pelagic trip.   Any hints and 
tips on good spots appreciated.
