(Plus Macleay's Swallowtail, several other butterflies as well as reptiles
which I haven't put in the list yet.)
However, we did not get great looks at 40-spotted Pardalote (only bad looks at
one from underneath) and we didn't see Swift Parrot, Tasmanian Masked Owl,
Tasmanian Southern Boobook, Swamp Quail and Spot-tailed Quoll at all.

I have just come back from a brief trip to Tassie, to attend a
conference, and of course fit in some birding and mammaling in between.
I visited most ofl my fave haunts - Peter Murrell Reserve, Waterworks
Reserve, Fern Trees and Orielton Lagoon. I all I saw over 80 species
with all the endemics except the Scrubtit. I again dipped on the Masked
Owl having looked for it at the Waterworks and Truganinni Reserve on Mt
Nelson. "Zorro" is fast becoming my new nemesis bird, the mask and the
fact that it is everywhere and nowhere has led me to the nickname.....
Among the other birds that were seen were Pink Robin (how come I have
to go to Tassie to see them????), Shy Albatross offshore from Tasman
Island (tourist boat trip) and this afternoon, about 20 Eastern Curlew
and 75 Bar-tailed Godwits at Pittwater, from the causeway.
Thanks to Ross Spencer and Dennis Abbott for their help with a few
birds and spots for Zorro!!!
The mammaling was very good also - 2 species of Bandicoot, Bettong,
Pademelon, Bennett's Wallaby and the "small horses" that mammalogists
call the Tas form of the Brush-tailed possum (including an albino).
Next time, Zorro!!!
