Two male blue-billed ducks at the WSUD/treatment ponds in the Mill Park
Lakes subdivision in South Morang. Looked and looked but couldn't spot
any females at the site.
Saw them this morning with my group of CVA volunteers. This is one of
my favorite local birding spots, we have been doing monitoring there all
year with the local students from NMIT TAFE.
As well as the usual suspects (including bread gobblers) a couple of
notable local sightings there this morning included...Pink eared ducks,
Latham's Snipe, Australasian Shovelers, Spotless Crake, Black- winged
Stilts, Little Black Cormorants, and Australian Pelicans
Would welcome any more experienced local birders in the Melbourne area
(I am a rank novice!) that might have some spare time, or be interested
in checking out this site on the northern fringe of Melbourne, as they
seem to be a real hot spot for local biodiversity - feel free to drop me
a line if you want any further details.
Cheers,
