Well, if the road isn't closed, make sure you camp at Cook's Hut. Most tourists camp at Chilli Beach - not a bad spot for waders, but can it can get rather windy there.

Stop off at Tozer Gap on the way in - there are lots of pitcher plants around - very pretty when they are flowering.

Regards, Laurie.

Hello all,

Have planned a birding trip to Iron Range in late November. As this will be our first trip there I was hoping that some on this mailing list may be able to offer information that will help make our trip a success. Info we are looking for are the best birding and camping pots and any 'pit falls' we might encounter along the way etc. And being a little cheeky, where would we a have chance to see a Red Goshawk?

And don't forget that if you plan to do some birding in the Townsville region let me know as members of the Townsville Region Bird Observers Club are always willing to assist birdo's visiting the area.
