Hi All

Just a short note to let you know that a possible Antarctic Tern was seen at
Cape du Couedic on the SW corner of Kangaroo Island, South Australia,
yesterday 18 September 2007. This is the same location as last year when a
total of 10 Sterna vittata were seen. The White-fronted Terns turned up at
Cape du Couedic in small numbers over the past few weeks (61 highest count)
and we thought that they may represent a pre-cursor to the "real" thing and
now that appears to have happened. The one bird was observed only very
briefly by Heiri Klein, a bird watcher friend of mine, and although he did
not differentiate between possible Arctic Tern it would seem likely after
last years events that Antarctic Tern is involved. It was seen briefly with
Crested and White-fronted Terns at Admirals Arch rock platforms-where many a
good view and photos were obtained last September/early October. Hopefully
this bird and others will be seen again in ensuing days/weeks and will keep
all promptly posted as events unfold so that hopefully those who missed out
last year will have an opportunity to see this delightful species in Oz this
year.

Regards

Chris Baxter
