Hi all,

Russ Lamb & I were at Ewan Maddocks Dam, close to Landsborough on the Qld
Sunshine Coast, yesterday and saw first Latham's Snipe. Unfortunately,
shortly afterwards, the "neat" landowner at the edge of that part of the dam
was busy slashing to very, very short every bit of vegetation at the water's
edge. Needless to say that when we returned, there was no sign of the Snipe
or the Buff-banded Rail that had been there earlier.

Hi Birders,

David Geering reported his first White-throated Gerygone at Wongarbon near
Dubbo NSW on 16/8/07 while my first arrival was of 4 Latham's Snipe today at

the Dairy Swamp, Tuggerah. I have been checking the swamp everyday this
week because usually the first Snipe reports for NSw are generally betwen
12-14 August each year!
