Hi all,

thanks for the tips. The esplanade was great! We are back in Oct so I can't
wait to show the family. Around the traps I saw (and identified!) two species
of egret, white faced heron, a couple of curlews (including Beach Stone eating
a crab), Ibis (Australian & Glossy), Spoon bill, Rainbow bee eater (eating
bee), two tern species, masked lapwing, fig bird (right near Cairns Convention
Centre), peaceful dove, barred cuckoo shrike, collered kingfisher, darter,
brahminy kite.

Also a couple of species of mudskipper and some crabs (a kind of mud crab and
fiddler crab).

Cheers

Mick...

PS. Will try & blog a few pics & info on where I saw things.
