Gordon...I once saw a Major Mitchell in Brisbane and it remains the only one
I have seen. I can't bring myself to give it a tick though. This problem
comes up a lot and the bottom line is you'll never know. I would have
thought though, that Major Mitchells are only kept by experienced
bird-keepers who are unlikely to accidently release one.

My sons and I saw a Major Mitchell at Rouse Hill Regional Park (NW Sydney)
today.
It was on its own, and we only saw it once.
I've not seen any reports of these in the Sydney Basin.
Escapee or drought refugee?
