Hi all
Recently passed through Longreach and called into a developing birding site -
Iningal Nature Reserve . Has a 3.5 km easy walking track and well worth a
visit if passing through. At the Water Treatment Plant was surprised to see a
flock of 20 plus Diamond Doves preening themselves, and five White-winged
Fairy-Wrens. At Lake Fairbairn Lookout near Emerald was again surprised to see
30 plus Nankeen Night Herons resting in trees very close by. Stayed at
Padaminka Nature Refuge for a few days. We were invited by Maureen Cooper [the
owner] and her friend to go with them on a quarterly survey along Cockies Creek
Road Eungella. Our first stop resulted in the sighting and hearing the call of
three Eungella Honeyeaters. They were feeding on scattered blooming of Ironbark
and Blue Gum. Three other stops along the road resulted in sighting and/or
hearing the honeyeater.
